Dar Touyir
132, Derb Dekkak - Bab Doukala, Marrakesh, Morocco
45 €
From the fast moving streets to the quiet alley way, you will step through the heavy gate of the house and you will find yourself in a different world, unknown from the street: the patio, its fountain and its orange trees.
Once inside, the lounges facing each others will pull you in for a nice cup of tea, unless you would rather choose the seats of the b'hou, sort of an alcove open on the patio.
On the upper level, the sun casts its shadows on the columns and wrought iron of the galleries to decorate the rooms with its lights.
In terms of sun, the best is the terrace. Perfect place to get warm with the winter sun, and in summer, to find some fresh air at sunset.
During all seasons, it's heaven for a relaxing drink... or a nap under the tent.
With more than 120 years of history, previously douyiria and court of the riad next door, Dar Touyir has been renovated since 1997, respectfully following the tradition, by the belgian architect Quentin Wilbaux.
